Q: Do I need a referral from my doctor?
A: No, you don’t need a referral from your doctor. If you have complex medical conditions it may be worth getting a referral from your GP/ doctor/specialist. You may be eligible for a medicare rebate if you have a chronic health condition. To access this rebate you would need a medicare CDM care plan referral from your doctor/GP emailed or uploaded prior to the consultation. These cannot be backdated.
Q: Are consultations bulk billed?
A: No, consultations are not bulk billed. Payment for your consultation is done upfront to allow your dietitian to spend more time consulting with you about your specific condition. You will need to pay for your consult prior to claiming any rebates. For automatic claiming of the medicare rebate after your first consultation, we would need receive and enter your bank account name, BSB and account number details into the system 48 hours prior to your appointment.
Your dietitian is registered with all major private health funds and government rebates. Your rebate depends on your level of cover and type of referral.
Q: How do online consultations work?
A: You will receive the same evidence based expert dietetic advice as you would face to face. I use clinically validated software called coviu which is a secure consulting platform (see below link for more information) this doesn’t require software, downloads or plug-ins. Your appointment reminder will be sent in a link which you can click on a few minutes before your appointment to join the video conference area.

Built in video camera found on most devices today or you can use a webcam too

Q: What time zone are consultations done in?
A: All consultations are in Australian Eastern standard time.
Q: How long are consultations?
A: Initial consultations typically go for 30-45 minutes.
Review consultations typically go for 20 minutes.
Q: What happens after I have booked my appointment ?
A: You will be sent an email with a intake form to fill out and a consent form for telehealth to complete and return prior to your appointment, and a access reminder link will be sent to your email for your coviu online telehealth appointment. Cancellation fees apply with less than 48 hrs notice of cancellation. We will need your intake form and signed electronic consent form prior to all consultations.
Q: How do you pay for a consultation?
A: Once you have booked for your online appointment you will be directed to a secure site to enter your credit card details for payment.
Q: Can I get a meal plan?
A: We provide individulised dietary and nutrition advice for your medical condition. We will email you resources that covers what we go through in the consultations. Some generic meal plans for certain medical conditions can be provided but there is an additional cost for these. If one needs to be developed for you individually these can be done for an additional cost.
Q: How do I book a follow up consultation?
A: After you have had your initial consultation you will be sent an invoice for your follow up date appointment , and upon payment of your follow up, the date will be confirmed and a reminder link for your follow up appointment will be sent.

Q: What about my credit card details?
A: Once you have paid for a online consultation we don’t have access to your credit card details. All payments go via halaxy gateway. The site is fully secured with a SSL certificate also which enables an encrypted connection. We only store credit card details with your permission.
